2 soldiers killed in ambush by suspected Abu Sayyaf

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Two soldiers were killed when ambushed by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits in Tumahubong village in Sumisip, Basilan on Sunday morning.

Major Filemon Tan Jr., spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command, said that the victims, who belonged to the 64th Infantry Battalion, were on “a logistic run and were returning to their headquarters” when shot at by three suspected Abu Sayyaf members.

Tan said the suspects fled on a motorbike. JE
