12 vehicles collide on C5 Ortigas flyover; 5 injured–MMDA

Most lanes of the C5 Ortigas flyover are not passable to motorists due to a multiple vehicle collision Thursday afternoon, according to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In an advisory at 6:15 p.m., the MMDA said the flyover’s northbound lanes were not passable, while only one southbound lane was passable after 12 vehicles collided at around 4:23 p.m.

MMDA said five persons were  injured after a 14-wheeler truck lost its control and swerved through the center island, plowing to other oncoming vehicles on the northbound lane. MMDA added that its rescue and traffic personnel were on site.

As of 6:15 p.m., MMDA said only three vehicles were remaining in the area.

MMDA said the traffic’s tail-end was already at SM Aura northbound as of 5:10 p.m.
