LUCENA CITY, Philippines—A motorcycle rider died while nine others were injured in two separate accidents along Quirino highway in Tagkawayan town in Quezon province on Wednesday.
Senior Insp. Reynaldo Reyes, Tagkawayan police chief, said the the victim, BJ Alexandre Marcon Lacaran, was negotiating the Quirino highway in Barangay (village) San Vicente on his motorcycle when he accidentally collided head on with an incoming truck driven by Marlon Pama around 1:30 a.m.
Lacaran died while being transported to Ma. Lourdes Eleazar district hospital in the town proper.
Around 8:30 a.m., a passenger jeep and a medium-duty truck also collided in the same highway in Barangay San Francisco.
Both drivers and seven passengers sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital, police said. RAM
