P500K worth of shabu seized in Cebu buy-bust

CEBU CITY—An alleged drug pusher was arrested while close to P500,000 worth of shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation in Consolacion town, northern Cebu early Wednesday.

Randy Godinez Gonzaga, 41 who was said to be a notorious drug pusher in Barangay Pulog, Consolacion, was held at Consolacion police detention cell pending filing of charges.

An undercover policeman pretended to be a buyer and bought P200 worth of shabu from Gonzaga in front of the chapel in Pulog about 4:30 a.m., said PO1 Cresenciano Saladaga Jr. of Consolacion police.

Upon receiving the money, other policemen pounced on the suspect who brought with him seven medium packs and 11 small packs of shabu and other drug paraphernalia. The illegal drugs weighed 40.47 grams with estimated value of P477,000.

The police also recovered from Gonzaga P2,300 in cash believed to be the proceeds of his illegal business.

Saladaga said the barangay officials of Pulog were the ones who called their attention about the illegal drug business of Gonzaga, which prompted the police to conduct surveillance operation. CDG
