Coast Guard monitors over 38,000 passengers on New Year's Eve

MANILA, Philippines — Over 38,000 passengers were monitored in ports nationwide on Monday, ahead of New Year’s Eve, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). 

The PCG said it had monitored and recorded 38,089passengers from midnight until 6 a.m.

The PCG likewise reported the deployment of 2,394 frontline personnel in 16 of its districts. These personnel also inspected 185 vessels and 46 motor bancas.

The inspection and monitoring are part of its efforts to manage the influx of port passengers nationwide.

The agency has also placed all its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert until January 3, 2025.

On the other hand, the Philippine National Police assured the public that it is ready to assist and respond to fire and firecracker-related incidents and other emergencies as the nation welcomes the new year.
