SAN RAFAEL, Bulacan, Philippines – Army soldiers on Monday (May 16) seized freshly cut lumber and the vehicles used by suspected timber poachers to transport these illegal items from the mountains of Donya Remedios Trinidad (DRT) town.

But the soldiers from the Army’s 48th Infantry Battalion failed to catch the poachers.

2nd Lieutenant Jan Michael Jamelarin and a team of soldiers set up a dragnet along the road after receiving information about the transported logs, and managed to confiscate 300 board feet of Red Lauan, six motorcycles and an Isuzu Elf truck along Sitio Buasao in Sapang Bulac village.

The confiscated items were turned over to the Department of Environment and National Resources (DENR).
