What did Mar Roxas do after his emotional concession speech?

He craved a burger.

Hours after giving a heartfelt speech before his supporters, campaign staff and the media, Roxas decided to take a break and satisfy his craving in a burger joint along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.

Like what he would always say, amid the “vicious” political battle he’s in, Roxas, in the photos, looked “serene” and “at peace.”

While at the burger place, students in the restaurant approached Roxas and offered to pray over him. His political ally Yacap Rep. Carol Lopez said some of the students cried.

Josh Torres, one of the students who prayed over Roxas, posted their photo on Twitter with the caption: “And at the end of it all, you’re still just man. Limited and flawed, but God is greater and so is His love. @MARRoxas”

It has been a gloomy day for his supporters, campaign staff and family as Roxas announced on Tuesday that he has conceded defeat to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

“Digong, I wish you success. Ang iyong tagumpay ay tagumpay ng ating sambayanan at ng ating bansa,” Roxas said as the people around him, most of them tearing up, cheered for him.

He then told his supporters and staff: “I read somewhere that it is not the battle or the conquest that we remember. But the soldier who stood beside us, na tumutoo sa atin, who we treasure the most. Sa inyong lahat, maraming-maraming salamat. Hindi ko po kayo makakalimutan.”

As many of them cried, Roxas told them, “I love you all!”

With his voice cracking, Roxas gave them this reminder: “There are many tears in the room. Let me tell you this is not a time for tears.”

“For our country, we have had a peaceful successful transfer of power. It’s not about me. It’s not about anyone. It’s about how we love our country and how we’ll do all that we can for her. She’s the only one,” said Roxas./rga
