Five killed as truck falls into Kalinga ravine

BAGUIO CITY–Five people died when their pick-up truck fell down a 20 meter ravine on Tuesday afternoon (April 12) in the Kalinga town of Tinglayan, according to a belated police report.

Ptricio Daliyong and Sabas Onalan died from the crash, while fellow passengers Anastacia Abagoy, Isabel Ladaw, and Virginia Manisim died on Tuesday night while being treated for head injuries at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, said Supt. Cherry Fajardo, spokesperson of the Cordillera Police Office.

The truck, driven by Salvador Oklod of Tabuk City, was carrying 29 passengers who attended a wedding party at Danao village in Tinglayan.

Oklod said a mechanical problem occurred as he descended Tulgao road. The truck plunged when its left front wheel slipped off the mountain road, police said. CDG
