Some of detained farmers to stay in jail due to lack of IDs

DAVAO CITY—Some of the 79 farmers detained in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato will remain in jail even if Aiza Seguerra and her wife Liza Diño were able to raise the money for their bail bond.

This is because some of the detainees do not have valid identification cards (IDs).

The couple earlier said that through the help of fellow artists and groups, they were able to raise P546,000 to post bail for the 79 individuals who were arrested during a mass action in that city.

On Wednesday, Kidapawan Municipal Trial Court Judge Rebecca De Leon reduced the bail of the 79 people from P12,000 to P6,000.

Jerry Alborme, chair of the Kilusang Magbubukid sa Pilipinas in North Cotabato, said only half of the detainees, which included women and elderly, have IDs.

Some of the detainees also do not have birth certificates or membership with PhilHealth and Social Security System. RAM
