CEBU CITY – Four houses were destroyed while four others were damaged in a fire that broke out past 1 a.m. on Saturday on Katipunan Street, Barangay (village) Labangon in Cebu City.
FO3 Antonio Gonzales of the Cebu City Fire station said the fire believed to have triggered by electrical misuse started on the second floor of the house of Saturnino Dinopol at 1:46 a.m.
The room was occupied by Dinopol’s granddaughter, Lorena.
No one was hurt in the fire that was put under control in 15 minutes by all available firefighters in the city, Gonzales said.
Aside from the house of Dinopol, the fire also destroyed the houses of Fortunato Guingone, Gregorio Dionzon and Wilfredo Mepisa.
The houses owned by Luz Telen and Sandra Argazo were damaged.
Gonzales said that based on their investigation, appliances caused the fire. But since the area was just along the road, the firefighters were able to put it out immediately, preventing the blaze from spreading to the entire neighborhood. CDG
