Independent vice presidential candidate Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero was able to carve a slim lead against his closest rival, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the vice presidential race, the results of the latest ABS-CBN-commissioned Pulse Asia poll revealed.
Escudero was picked by 25 percent of respondents as their vice president, while Marcos got 22 percent. With a 1.9 percent error margin, Pulse Asia said that the two senators are “statistically tied” in first place.

Liberal Party’s vice presidential bet Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo is in second place with 21 percent followed by Senators Alan Peter Cayetano (14 percent), Antonio Trillanes IV (6 percent) and Gringo Honasan (5 percent).

Marcos is the top pick of respondents from the National Capital Region (37 percent), while Escudero is the leading candidate in the rest of Luzon (32 percent). Robredo is the top pick from Visayan respondents, while Cayetano led in Mindanao. Their respective running-mates, Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte ruled in the same regions.

The son of the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos is the top choice of Class ABC respondents, while Escudero clinched the support of Classes D and E.
Escudero, the running-mate of presidential front runner Senator Grace Poe, was also chosen by 26 percent of respondents as their alternative choice should their primary bet exit the vice presidential race.
The survey was conducted from March 1 to 6 with 2,600 respondents who are registered voters with biometrics. IDL
