Boy, 8, killed in Basilan bombing; 4 minors critically hurt

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – An eight-year old boy was killed while four of his siblings were critically wounded when two men lobbed an improvised bomb in their house in Isabela City in Basilan midnight Sunday.

Superintendent Oscar Nantes, Basilan police chief, said the two suspects were neighbors of Nanny and Melsita Jimmy, the victims’ parents.

Based on initial investigation, the Jimmys earlier had a misunderstanding with the suspects, Nantes said.

Killed was Bobby Jimmy, 8, while wounded were Carisma 3, Juita, 1, Tagay, 4 and Jamar, 15.

Police said a manhunt had been launched against the suspects.
