San Juan limits parking along Mabuhay Lanes
San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez has issued an executive order regulating the use as parking areas along roads designated as part of the Mabuhay Lanes of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Executive Order No. GGG-02-004 prohibits double parking on Annapolis, Missouri and Connecticut Streets.
These streets form part of MMDA’s 17 Mabuhay Lanes, a network of alternative routes for motorists who want to avoid Edsa.
The order, signed by Gomez Thursday last week on an “experimental basis,” came more than three months after the local government clashed with the MMDA over the latter’s clearing operations on these streets.
In November, City Hall stopped MMDA teams from towing cars parked along Club Filipino Avenue and Annapolis Street, citing a 1998 ordinance designating the streets as “pay parking zones.”
The following day, Gomez agreed to revisit their policy, noting that they are “supportive of national programs,” especially those that help ease traffic in the metropolis.

On Connecticut Street, which covers Ortigas Avenue all the way to Edsa, only left side parallel parking will be allowed.
In the order, Gomez said motorists who park on the opposite sides of the designated areas will be fined under the city’s Traffic Management Code.
