SUBIC, Zambales—Some employees of the municipal hall here are being invited for questioning and fingerprint matching because police investigators theorize that a weekend burglary at the government building is an inside job.

The break-in targeted Subic’s disbursement vouchers, official receipts, annual audit reports of Subic villages, cash books, liquidation reports, ledgers, and Commission on Audit reports.

“We are eyeing more than one suspect and they seemed to know exactly where the missing documents were kept,” said SPO4 George Cruz, chief investigator of the Subic police station, on Tuesday.

He said personnel of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory Office in Olongapo City were able to lift latent prints from the crime scene.

On Sunday, an employee of the office of Mayor Jay Khonghun alerted the police station about the robbery.

The thieves entered the mayor’s office, the Commission on Audit (COA) office, and the accounting storage room, police said.

Police said the robbery could have taken place between 7 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Investigators found the rooms in disarray and doors broken.
