“A victory for those clamoring for real change.”

This was how the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) welcomed the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to junk all the disqualification cases against Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

“It is a clear triumph over the forces of disorder who are afraid of the radical change Mayor Duterte symbolizes,” lawyer Paola Alvarez, PDP-Laban spokesman said in a statement on Thursday.

Alvarez said the PDP-Laban has been confident that Duterte would “surmount these bogus disqualification cases.”

“This is the victory of all those who are fed up with the continuing disorder, lack of security and equal opportunities in our country. Their voices cannot be denied anymore,” she said.

With this legal hurdle surpassed, Alvarez said Duterte and his running mate Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano would “certainly carry their voices as they strengthen their campaign to present their bold solutions and swift actions to the public’s everyday struggles.”

“We believe that the struggle for real change is a collective endeavor wherein the people are the masters of their own destiny,” she said.

She said the Duterte-Cayetano duo would need the help and support of all those who are longing for genuine change.

“They cannot do it alone. But with the grace of God and the people’s support, Mayor Duterte and Sen. Cayetano will lead us in building a more humane and peaceful society, achieving inclusive growth through regional development and equality under the law,” she said. CDG
