Fast-craft between Iloilo, Bacolod cities suspended due to gale warning

ILOILO CITY—Travel of fast-craft between Iloilo and Bacolod cities remained suspended for the second straight day on Wednesday due to strong winds and huge waves, the Coast Guard said.

Lt. Senior Grade Jomark Angue, public information officer of the Coast Guard in Western Visayas, said the suspension of travel was due to the gale warning hoisted over the seaboards of Panay, Guimaras and Negros islands.

The height of the waves ranged from three to five meters with wind velocity measuring from 45 to 50 kilometers per hour, Angue said.

Trips of roll-on, roll-off crafts, however, continued.

The Coast Guard also regulated trips of motorboats between Iloilo and Guimaras Island. The boats were allowed to carry 75 percent of their passenger capacity and travel was limited from sunrise to sunset.

No incidents related to the gale warning have been reported to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) as of Wednesdaymorning, Rosario Cabrera, OCD Western Visayas director, said.  SFM
