LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – A former vice mayor of Famy town in Laguna was arrested after the police found illegal drugs and firearms in his cock farm on Wednesday morning.

In a phone interview, Superintendent Meliton Salvadora Jr., chief of the Laguna police intelligence unit, said Amadeo Punio was arrested at around 8:45 a.m. in Barangay (village) Salang-bato.

Also arrested in the raid were Ernesto Silva, Cairo Tamos and Anna Rose Dadulla, who all claimed to be Punio’s caretakers in the farm.

Meliton said they served the search warrant issued by judge Agripino Morga of the Regional Trial Court Branch 32 in San Pablo City, Laguna.

The police recovered 117.65 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), with an estimated street value of P588, 250, a weighing scale and suspected drug paraphernalia.

Also recovered were a shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle, two pistols of calibers .22 and .38, a hand grenade, and several ammunition.

” (Punio) was denying it, of course. But, you see, the drugs were found inside his vault,” Salvadora said.

Punio was the town’s vice mayor from 2001 to 2004. He also elected municipal councilor in 2007. TVJ
