Aquino assigns another classmate as acting DOJ secretary

President Benigno Aquino III assigned another classmate to his Cabinet after the appointment of Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa as associate justice.

“According to Executive Secretary (Paquito) Ochoa, President Aquino has appointed erstwhile Justice Undersecretary Emmanuel Caparas as Acting Secretary at the DOJ (Department of Justice) vice newly appointed Supreme Court Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a statement.

Like Caguioa, Caparas was a former classmate of Aquino at Ateneo de Manila University. He was the spokesperson of the DOJ.

Caguioa was among those who got unanimous votes from the Judicial and Bar Council, which is tasked to come up with a shortlist of Supreme Court justice nominees.
