Cops in civilian clothes try to arrest ex-INC minister

Former Iglesia ni Cristo Minister Lowell Menorca on Wednesday cried foul after unidentified men claiming to be police officers tried to arrest him for libel.

In the video, a woman was shouting “Nasan ang warrant nyo? (Where is your warrant (of arrest)?)” while someone in the background was saying “May piyansa naman, Ma’am (It is (a) bailable (offense), Ma’am).”

Then, a man wearing a striped shirt, dark brown shorts and blue slippers was trying to hold Menorca, the man in a suit.

Menorca was shouting, “Kami ang dating Iglesia ni Cristo, hinaharass nila. Ako yung kinidnap nila.”

(We were former Iglesia ni Cristo (members) who were harassed. They kidnapped me.)

The woman, Menorca’s wife Jinky, also asked the police where their badge is.

“Tulungan nyo kami nangingidnap. Nasan ang badge nyo kung pulis ka? (Help us, they are kidnapping us. Where is your badge if you are indeed a police officer?)” Then, the man in shorts turned to her “Hawakan nyo ‘to. Aarestuhun kita (Hold him (Menorca). I will arrest you).”

Lowell and Jinky Menorca were on their way to attend a Court of Appeals hearing on the petition for writ of amparo filed by Anthony Menorca and Jungko Otsuka.
