Binay maintains lead; Poe, Roxas, Duterte in statistical tie—survey

Vice President Jejomar Binay moved farther away from his closest rival Senator Grace Poe after the former garnered the lead in a recent poll survey as reported by a business daily.

According to report from Business World, the latest BusinessWorld-Social Weather Stations (BW-SWS) pre-election survey conducted from January 8 to 10 among 1,200 validated voters nationwide, Binay got the nod of 31% respondents, five points higher than 26% he got last December.

Meanwhile, Poe, Liberal Party (LP) standard-bearer Mar Roxas and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte were in a statistical tie. Poe was the choice of 24% respondents, a slight decrease from 26%. Roxas got 21%, down from 22% and Duterte remained at 20%.

In the vice presidential derby, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero ranked first with 28%, down from 30%. Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos came in second and emerged with a six-point increase at 25%, from 19% previously. LP bet Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo achieved the nod of 17% respondents, down from 19% last December and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano was the choice of 14% respondents, down from 17%.

Senator Vicente Sotto III was the top choice of respondents in the senatorial race at 56%, down from 59% previously. Former Senator Panfilo Lacson got 49%, up from 46% last December. Senator Ralph Recto achieved the nod of 46% respondents, 10-point decrease from 56% previously. Former Food Security Presidential Assistant Francis Pangilinan got 46%, down from December’s 56%. Senate President Franklin Drilon garnered 43%, Senator Sergio Osmeña at 42%, former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri with 39%, Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao got 37%, former Justice Secretary Leila de Lima achieved 33% and former Senator Richard Gordon with 31%.

The said survey has a sampling error margins of ±3 points for national percentages. RAM
