MANILA, Philippines — The Southern Police District announced on Thursday the arrest of “one of the most wanted men for vehicle theft” in Makati City, and his cohort.
In a statement, the SPD said they first arrested John Kenneth Alcantara, who topped Makati’s anti-carnapping unit list.
Alcantara was arrested on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., after he failed to show documentation for the motorcycle (plate number BT-7466) he was driving at a checkpoint on Daffodil St., at the corner of Bluebox St., Barangay Rizal.
Hours later, Daniel Carlos Batang surfaced in the police community precinct 10 where Alcantara had been taken, and positively identified the latter as one of two men who took his motorcycle the day before, around 3 a.m.
The SPD said Alcantara later accompanied the police and Batang to the 29th Avenue, Barangay East Rembo, where John Rose Cabase, his alleged cohort, was found on board a motorcycle Batang identified as his.
Cabase reportedly tried to escape but was eventually collared and arrested.
The SPD said Cabase failed to present any documentation for the motorcycle he was using.
Criminal charges are set to be filed against Cabase and Alcantara, who are detained in the Makati Police headquarters. SFM
