Duterte’s promise: No more big promises
“Let’s not over promise.”
That was the directive of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to his team as they shift from attending private meetings and events to town hall meetings starting this week, said Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday.
“On Thursday, we‘ll have our first town hall meetings and a two-day activity including courtesy calls to influential leaders of society,” Cayetano, Duterte’s runningmate, said at a press conference in Taguig City.
“It will be testing the waters… Before, the Duterte-Cayetano (had been) going to personal invitations, mga launching, ribbon-cuttings, birthdays and media activities but right now, we’ll be going straight to the people,” he said.
Cayetano said their tandem had a “simple and effective” message: “Tunay na Pagbabago” which is anchored on three issues: peace and order, economics and respect for law.

“That’s why ang instruction nya sa akin at sa buong team, let’s not over promise katulad ng traffic, hindi kaya overnight yan, hindi kayang 100 days yan.”
“Let’s not draw up a platform na masabi na lahat ng sektor kasali ako dyan pero pag kwenenta mo naman hindi naman kaya. Kaya any salary increase, any form of taxation that we want to change, not only will experts be involved, we’ll make sure it’s doable,” Cayetano added.
