Ex-LTO chief Virgie Torres passes away—report
Former Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Virginia “Virgie” Torres passed away on Saturday morning due to a heart attack, a radio report said.
According to a report from radio station DZMM, Torres, said to be a shooting buddy of President Benigno Aquino III, died in Clark, Pampanga.
The former assistant transportation secretary became controversial in 2013 after figuring in a viral YouTube video, which showed her playing a slot machine in an unnamed casino.
Torres resurfaced in the news last year after showing up before the Bureau of Customs to supposedly negotiate the release of at least 64 shipping containers of smuggled Thai sugar amounting to more than P100 million. IDL
