A WOMAN died while two others suffered injuries when a fire broke out in a residential area on Saturday morning in Cainta, Rizal province.

Lolita Contiga’s body was found inside her house on East Bank Floodway in Barangay San Juan where the blaze started at 9:28 a.m. Authorities, however, believed that the 38-year-old victim may have been killed by her husband beforehand as her body bore stab wounds.

Cainta fire chief Senior Supt. Sergio Soriano said that based on their initial investigation, the couple were heard arguing over a supposed third party before the blaze broke out.

He added that when the hour-long fire, which reached only the first alarm, was put out, Soriano’s husband Joel had disappeared.

Ten other houses were affected with the damage to property estimated at P100,000. Soriano said they were still investigating Contiga’s death.
