Policemen salvage armed cop holed up in Iloilo hotel room

ILOILO CITY–Elite policemen on Tuesday afternoon assaulted a hotel room where a distraught armed policeman holed himself up since Monday afternoon.

PO2 Gary Catedral was slightly wounded, according to Insp. Shella Mae Sangrines, media relations officer of the crisis and management team.

The assault started at around 3 p.m. at the El Haciendero Private Hotel in Jaro District by elite policemen to flush out Catedral who had locked himself inside the hotel since 4:30 p.m.Monday.

Repeated sounds of gunfire were heard from the hotel as members of a Special Weapons and Tactics unit forced their way into a hotel room.

An ambulance later brought Catedral to a still undetermined hospital. CDG
