2 dead, 4 wounded in Zamboanga City grenade blast
ZAMBOANGA CITY—Two persons were killed while four minors were wounded in a grenade explosion in Patalon village here on Friday.
Chief Inspector Joel Tuttuh, spokesperson of the Zamboanga City Police Office, identified those killed as couple Danilo Ocampo and his common law wife Marites Mañalac.
The incident took place in Sitio Agrarian around 10:49 a.m.
Tutuh said initial investigation found out that Ocampo and Manalac—both from Sibuco town in Zamboanga del Norte—had just docked their boat at the shores at Sitio (sub-village) Agrarian when they had a heated argument.
The man got very angry and took out a grenade. Tutuh said Ocampo accidentally removed the pin of the grenade, which resulted in an explosion.
The four boys—ages 7, 10, 11 and 12—were playing nearby and were caught by the explosion, Tutuh said.
The wounded victims had been rushed to a hospital, he added. RAM
