Weakened ‘Nona’ to dump rain in northern, central Luzon
Tropical Depression “Nona” has weakened but is still expected to bring moderate to heavy rain in Northern and Central Luzon, the weather bureau said.
Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 is raised over Pangasinan and Zambales provinces because of Nona, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Nona, spotted at 60 km west of Iba, Zambales, as of 4 a.m., is forecast to remain stationary due to interaction with the amihan (northeast monsoon). Moderate to heavy rain is projected within its 250 km radius.
Nona is expected to dissipate and turn into a low-pressure area within 24 hours, weather forecaster Samuel Duran said. As of 4 a.m., Nona has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph.
Meanwhile, a storm signal is expected to be raised over the Caraga region today as Tropical Depression “Onyok” threatens Mindanao.
