MANILA, Philippines — Two alleged members of the dreaded Sputnik Gang were killed, while another was arrested, after a predawn robbery attempt on a passenger bus in Pasay City Friday, a police spokesman told Inquirer.net.
Citing a police report from Pasay City authorities, Southern Police District spokeswoman Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said that the suspects tried to rob a Mayamy bus at around 1 a.m., and shot it out with authorities who responded.
Tecson said that a suspected robber, only known as Robert, and another named Ronald Salazar, were both killed in a shoot-out with police. Salazar was identified when authorities found an NBI record inside his wallet, Tecson said.
The SPD spokesperson said that the police arrested Hernan Martines, 30, also a member of the Sputnik Gang during the robbery attempt. He now faces charges for attempted robbery and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
