Mom Susan Roces has no interest in politics, says Grace Poe

Senator Grace Poe said her mother, veteran actress Susan Roces, has no interest in politics, dispelling earlier reports that the latter could substitute for her in case she is disqualified from running for president in 2016.

In fact, Poe said she was shock when she read the news that some of her supporters were pushing for her mother to be her substitute in case she is disqualified from the race.

“Alam niyo po, noong nakita namin ‘yan sa dyaryo, pati ako nagulat e, kasi wala naman kaming pag-uusap ng nanay kong ganyan e. At saka ‘yung usapan nga naming, sabi nga niya, bilang isang nanay, hindi niya napipigilan din ‘yung nais niyang sabihin, kaya mabuti na rin na hindi rin siya kalahok sa mga ganito.”

“Pero hindi talaga; walang interest ang aking nanay. Unang-una po, masaya siya sa kanyang trabaho ngayon at sa kanyang kalayaan bilang isang retirado na rin, semi-retired na senior citizen,” she added.

Besides, Poe explained that an independent candidate like her cannot be substituted.

“Mas maigi ngang independent candidate, sapagkat hindi na ginagamit sa political na konsiderasyon lamang ang pagktabo na parang–o ‘pag di ka natuloy ay substitute ako para sa’yo. Hindi po; hindi po ‘yan pwede sa isang independent candidate,” she said.
