Call center agent dead after being hit by van in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY – A call center agent was killed on Monday night after she was hit by a van while crossing the pedestrian lane in front of the Transcom City at the Araneta Highway here.

Tricia Abat, 38, of Talisay City and an employee of Transcom City,
was heading for work when a Mitsubishi L300 hit her about 7:30 p.m.

Police Officer 2 Orlando Caporal, traffic investigator, said the victim was dragged by the vehicle about 15 meters from the point of impact. The windshield was also destroyed.

Driver Leon Chio Go Ang, 50 and a resident of Barangay (village) Tangub in Bacolod, was detained at the police station 8 pending the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

Ang told the police that he was heading south of the Araneta Highway but did not notice Abat crossing the street because the area was not well lighted.
