“Lando” has weakened to a tropical storm as it moved further away from Luzon, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its latest 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Lando was 125 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.

Pagasa said Lando had a sustained maximum wind of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.

The weather bureau said it was moving slowly at 4 kilometers per hour

Pagasa said Lando could become a low pressure area before it exited PAR.

Public Storm Signal No. 2 was raised in the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra and Batanes.

La Union, Pangasinan, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao and Benguet were under storm signal no. 1.

Meanwhile, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said at least 12 were dead due to Lando and hundreds of thousands of individuals were sheltered in evacuation centers.
