At least 12 were dead and hundreds of thousands were evacuated as tropical storm “Lando” wreaked havoc in several provinces in the Philippines, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.
In a press briefing, Romina Marasigan of NDRRMC said the casualties were reported in Nueva Vizacaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Ifugao, Benguet and the National Capital Region.
Marasigan said 290, 797 persons or 60, 170 families were affected by the typhoon from Regions I, II, III, IVA, Cordillera Administrative Region and NCR.
She said 70,503 individuals or 15, 603 families remained sheltered in 376 evacuation centers in the country.
The provinces of Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Aurora, Kalinga and Mountain Province experienced power outages due to toppled electric posts, Marasigan added.
Due to massive flooding, landslides and toppled trees, Marasigan said 73 road and 27 bridges remained impassable.
She said the damage to agriculture was estimated at P182, 714, 230.27. CDG
