Man runs amok, assaults pupil outside QC school
A 7-YEAR-OLD boy was hospitalized after he was hit with a wooden plank by a former security guard and confessed drug user who ran amok outside the child’s school in Novaliches, Quezon City, on Friday.
Adrian Garcia, a Grade 1 student at Damong Maliit Elementary School remained under observation at Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH) as of Sunday for the head injury he sustained when Arron Paul Casaclang attacked him as he was waiting for a ride around 5 p.m.
SPO2 Maribel Versoza, the case investigator from the Quezon City Police District’s Novaliches station, said Garcia was waiting outside his school on Trinidad Avenue, San Antonio Subdivision in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, when the suspect arrived and hit the boy in the head for no apparent reason.
When arrested by barangay security officers, Casaclang would only say that he was enraged by his neighbors who were spreading gossip about him.
Versoza said a check into Casaclang’s background showed that the 22-year-old suspect was a former security guard and that he admitted using illegal drugs after his wife left him. He lived next to the school and just chanced upon the boy after the dismissal of classes Friday afternoon, the officer added.
A tricycle driver, Nesflor Estepa, who was scheduled to pick up the boy, witnessed how the suspect attacked the child and brought the victim to Bernardino General Hospital.

Casaclang was detained at the QCPD-Novaliches station to face charges for frustrated homicide.
