Teacher punched, kicked and verbally abused for reprimanding student

SIBU, Malaysia — A male disciplinary teacher, in his 40s, of a secondary school in Jalan Teng Chin Hua here was bruised in the face and injured in his stomach after he was punched and kicked by a student.

He was also verbally abused by the male student for reprimanding him at about 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

After the incident, which occurred during the school’s morning assembly, the teacher who suffered injuries on his nose lodged a police report at about 1:30 p.m.

Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi when contacted Saturday, confirmed receiving the report and said police have identified the student.

However, he said police have not yet detained the student for investigation.
