NDRRMC on red alert due to ‘Lando’
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council was placed on red alert in preparation for the landfall of Typhoon “Lando” (international name: Koppu).
The red alert status was on red alert on Friday noon. This means all personnel at the operations center are on their posts.
Lando is expected to make landfall over Isabela-Aurora late Saturday to early Sunday.
The typhoon was tracked 585 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.
It packed maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 160 kph.
Storm signals were already raised in parts of Luzon ahead of Lando’s landfall.
