Binay camp says DILG lied about ‘peaceful’ serving of VP son’s dismissal order
The camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Friday accused the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) of lying after it said that the dismissal order of suspended Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay was served “silently and peacefully.”
Binay’s camp released photos from closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to belie the claims of DILG National Capital Region director Maria Lourdes Agustin that there were no police cars surrounding the younger Binay’s house when the DILG personnel served his dismissal order.

“Contrary to the DILG NCR director Maria Lourdes Agustin’s claim that there was no truth to reports to that police cars surrounded the mayor’s house when DILG personnel served the order, the video shows at least three police cars and six police officers at the vicinity of Mayor Binay’s home early Wednesday morning,” Binay’s camp said in a statement.
On Wednesday, Binay spokesperson Joey Salgado said that a convoy of cars from the DILG and patrol cars of the Makati City Police arrived at the home of the suspended mayor to serve his dismissal order, which he said the mayor had already received last Friday.
The younger Binay has been dismissed from office by the Ombudsman over the allegedly overpriced Makati City Parking Building II.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales said he was dismissed for grave misconduct and dishonesty, as there were “irregularities in the services and contract for the construction in several phases of the parking building.”
