Poe, Escudero to reveal Senate slate next week

Sen. Grace Poe has said she and running mate Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero have already completed their senatorial lineup for 2016 and they will announce it next week.

Poe said two of the candidates in their slate would formally declare their senatorial bid on Friday.

Sa ating mga kababayan, kumpleto na po ang ating senatorial slate,” Poe told reporters after she and Escudero filed their certificates of candidacy on Thursday.

Poe confirmed that the names that had appeared in the papers were among those they considered in their slate.

She added that Sen. Serge Osmeña was one of them.

However, in a text message to reporters on Thursday morning, Osmeña said he would have to find a “gentle” way to say no if he would be offered a slot in Poe’s slate.

Ginagalang ko si Senator Osmeña dahil marami akong natutunan sa kanya,” she said. “Ano man ang kanyang desisyon ay ginagalang ko din.”

Poe said they wanted their slate to be “inclusive” and unifying so that they could work together for the country and the people. Maila Ager/RC
