(Updated) The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is bracing for more people seeking a shot at national positions as the filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) enters its second day.

Monday’s event saw 22 people, led by Vice President Jejomar Binay, throwing their hat in the presidential ring. Meanwhile, three people signified their interest to run for vice president, while 16 people filed their COCs for senator.

Comelec Chair Andres Bautista on Monday said those who filed their COCs were not yet considered official candidates.
