Inquirer.net readers want Agarao kicked out of LP due to ‘Playgirls’ scandal

That is the fate that Inquirer.net readers want to have for Liberal Party (LP) lawmaker Benjamin Agarao after he was slammed by netizens for featuring a lewd performance from the girl group “Playgirls” in an event after an LP oath-taking.
In the poll, the readers were asked: “What should LP do in the wake of the Playgirls controversy?”
About 34.16 percent of readers or 19,363 voters said that Agarao should be booted out from the party.
On the other hand, a close 33.98 percent or 19, 259 voters seemed to be adamant on the issue, saying that “song and dance numbers are routine in political events.”
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the emcee in the said event, the “Playgirls” were a “gift” from former Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Francis Tolentino.
Article continues after this advertisementAbout 19.62 percent or 11,122 voters said that Tolentino should be removed from the LP slate. Before the poll results were bared, Tolentino has apologized for the incident and has asked the administration coalition to exclude him from the slate.

Meanwhile, about 10.46 percent or 5,929 readers said that the LP should remove Tolentino and Agarao.
Only 1,010 readers or 1.78 percent said that LP should issue a “stronger” statement.
The incident has sparked backlash against the LP on social media, even asking LP Chair President Benigno Aquino III to issue an apology on behalf of the party.
