Francis Tolentino apologizes for Playgirls’ twerking boo-boo
Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chair and senatorial aspirant Francis Tolentino has apologized for the Playgirls’ incident which happened during the birthday party of the Liberal Party solon and Laguna Representative Benjamin Agarao last week.
A report by Radyo Inquirer said Tolentino apologized to the Liberal Party and to former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.
He even asked the administration party to drop him from the senatorial lineup.
The MMDA chair declared his senatorial bid last week, presumably under the LP.
The LP has deferred the announcement of its senatorial lineup after the incident was exposed.
The faux pas sparked outrage on social media, with netizens even demanding an apology from Liberal Party chair President Benigno Aquino III.
During the party, the emcee said that the dancers were a “gift” from Tolentino.
Tolentino vehemently denied that he sponsored the dancers but admitted that he had asked them to “wear skirts.”
Liberal Party solons and Malacañang condemned the incident, saying such portrayal of women was unacceptable. CB
