Satera, 7 others enter 2nd rd of Baseline net

University  of San Carlos’ (USC) Fritz Satera led seven other netters into the second round of the 16-Under boys division of the age-group tennis competition organized by Baseline Sports and Recreation Center to mark its 38th anniversary.

Satera crushed Christian Soon, 10-5, to advance into the second round today.

Joining Satera were the Parangan brothers — Francis and Adrian. Francis routed Jarryd Laurel, 10-3, while Adrian trounced Carlston dela Cerna, 10-1.

Other winners include Clyde Bienes who blanked Kenneth Madrid, 10-0; Dwyne Tarculas who routed Michael Lauron, 10-5; John Michael Necesario who edged Ralph Juliane, 10-8; Jess Villarin who whipped Alfred Yaranon, 10-5 and March Norman Enriquez who showed Ivan Olo the way out, 10-7.

The distaff side also boost of siblings who progressed into the second round. Elma and Elgy Dasian defeated their respective opponents to advance to the quarterfinals.

Elma had to pass through the eye of the needle against Claire Lazaga by fending off four match points before winning, 10-9.

In contrast, her sister Elgy blanked Carmel Magno, 10-0.

Joining them in the second round were Glory Faith Bohol who outclassed Natalie Alipe, 10-2 and Kimberly Uytico who booted out Edelweiss Donaire, 10-3.
