Drilon: Leni Robredo ‘most decent, most suited’ to be Roxas’ VP

The Liberal Party (LP) has high hopes that Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo will accept its offer to run for vice president next year, Senate President Franklin Drilon said on Friday.
Drilon, vice chairman of LP, said that aside from Robredo, the party has no other candidate in mind for vice president.
“Wala po kaming naiisip doon dahil buo ang aming pagasa na tatanggapin ni Congresswoman Leni ‘yung aming alok na siya ay maging vice presidential candidate,” he said in an interview over Bombo Radyo on Friday.
(We have no one else in mind because we have high hopes that Congresswoman Leni would accept the offer to be our vice presidential candidate.)
The Senate leader had already declared that Robredo would be the LP’s bet for vice president in 2016. But he said the congresswoman requested for more time to consult her children and supporters.

“Inalok kay Congresswoman Leni Robredo ang pagka-bise presidente at katandem ni Mar Roxas. Siya po ay humingi ng konting panahon para komunsulta at makonsulta ang kanyang mga anak at kaalyado,” he said.

“Siya po ang sa aming tingin ang karapat-dapat na maging bise presidente dahil ay siya po, she personifies good governance – the good governance that endeared Jesse Robredo sa kanyang mga kababayan, lalo na po sa Naga City,” said Drilon.
(We believe she deserves to be vice president because she personifies good governance – the good governance that endeared Jesse Robredo to their constituents in Naga City.)
He was referring to the congresswoman’s husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, who died in a plane crash in August, 2012.
“Kaya sa aming tingin, ang pinakamahusay at pinakadisente at bagay na maging bise presidente ni Mar Roxas dito po sa “Tuwid na Daan” ay si Congresswoman Leni, ngunit hintayin na lang po natin, sa Lunes siguro ay magkakaroon na ng announcement,”
(It is in our view that the most decent and most suited to be the vice president of Mar Roxas in the straight path program is Congresswoman Leni, but we will still wait, and on Monday, she might make the announcement.)
The LP has already nominated Roxas to be its standard-bearer for 2016 but it will convene again on Monday, October 5, to announce his running-mate and the party’s senatorial ticket. IDL
