While elated by her continued lead in pre-election surveys, Senator Grace Poe acknowledged on Monday that she needed to start going around the country to increase her lead over rivals.

Poe still topped the latest Pulse Asia survey with 26 percent, followed by former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas with 20 percent, Vice President Jejomar Binay with 19 percent, and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte (16 percent).

Poe, Roxas and Binay have all declared their presidential bid except for Duterte.

“Again, I thank the Filipino people for their confidence. It is from them that I draw my strength,” Poe said in a text message on Monday.

“More than just a measure of popularity, this is a reminder that we should always focus on performance and genuine service,” she added.

Asked if she was concerned that she only had a 6-percent lead over Roxas, Poe said: “It shows that we have to start going around the country and convey to out countrymen what we stand for and our platform of government.”

“Perhaps, it also makes a difference that the survey was taken prior to my announcement,” said the senator.

The survey was conducted among 2,400 respondents from September 8 to 14 or two days before she declared her presidential bid. It had a + or – 2 percent margin of error.
