SINGAPORE – A 46-year-old man was charged on Saturday with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
The Singaporean had allegedly stabbed his 48-year-old wife in the abdomen at their home at about 7am on Friday with a knife measuring about 15cm in blade length.
Police received a call informing them that a woman was injured at a residential unit in Bedok South Avenue 3. The victim was later brought to hospital.
Following inquiries by officers from the Bedok Division, the man was in custody within 12 hours. The Straits Times understands that the accused was charged while in hospital on Saturday.
The case would most likely be mentioned in court again on Oct. 2.
Anyone found guilty of voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons may face life imprisonment or a jail term of up to 15 years and a fine or caning.
