Sen. Grace Poe has kind words for her cousin, actress Sheryl Cruz, who has voiced out her opposition to the senator’s presidential bid in the 2016 elections.
“I thank Sheryl for her opinion and concern for us,” Poe said in a text message.
“As family, we will continue to give her the love and respect she deserves,” she added.
Cruz, who was supposed to conduct a tell-all interview about her cousin during a press conference for a biopic on Iglesia Ni Cristo founder Felix Manalo on Tuesday, said Poe’s bid for the presidency was a “bit abrupt.”
“It’s just too soon for her. It may be better if she could draft more laws as a senator, then maybe in the 2022 presidential elections, she would be ready. Because, like what I said, this is politics, not show biz. It’s more complicated, dirtier. This is my opinion, and I rarely speak,” Cruz said in an interview with reporters.

Noting that she had no plans to shame her cousin, Cruz said her statement was only in line with her obligation as a Filipino, a voter, and a taxpayer.
Poe, who topped the latest Social Weather Stations survey on most preferred presidential aspirants, is the adopted daughter of movie stars Susan Roces and Fernando Poe Jr.
