QC funeral home has another use for cooking pot
The Quezon City Health Department on Tuesday recommended the closure of a funeral home on Commonwealth Avenue near the corner of Litex Road for failure to comply with sanitation requirements despite an earlier warning.
This was after a surprise inspection of Urban Funeral Homes caught its workers leaving a human body part in a cooking pot at the embalming area.
Water from the embalming area also flows to a septic tank and pours out to a creek at the back of the establishment.
The funeral home is located next to several eateries and a shop that sells goat meat, according to Assistant City Health Officer Verdades Linga.
Linga also noted that the funeral home lacked pest-control measures and failed to comply with the requirements for sanitary, locational and environmental permits.
In an interview with Radyo Inquirer, City Civil Registrar Ramon Matabang said the establishment would likely be closed down for the violations cited by the inspectors.
