Typhoon “Ineng” (international name: Goni) slightly slowed down as it continued to pose threat over extreme Northern Luzon on Thursday afternoon.
Signal No. 3 remained hoisted over Batanes Group of Islands, northern Cagayan including Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Ineng moved at 11 kilometers per hour and weakened at 170 kph and gusts of up to 205 kph.
The rest of Cagayan, Northern Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra and Ilocos Norte were placed at Signal No. 2.
Signal No. 1 was hoisted over the rest of Isabela, Northern Aurora, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Benguet, La Union and Ilocos Sur.
Pagasa warned of storm surges, flashfloods and landslides in these areas with storm signals.
Ineng will also continue to enhance the southwest monsoon or hanging habagat and bring occasional areas to Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.
The typhoon was last located 310 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan, and would exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday afternoon.
Fishermen were also warned to avoid the eastern and southern seaboards of Luzon and the seaboards of Samar provinces. Frances Mangosing/RC
