Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II confirmed Monday that he had met with Senator Grace Poe, amid speculation on who will be his running mate in the 2016 elections.

Last August 5, Roxas spoke on live television and invited Poe to be his vice presidential running mate in next years polls.

“Nagkita kami ni Senadora Grace. Maayos ang aming paguusap,” (I met with Senator Grace Poe. It was cordial) Roxas told reporters at the sidelines of the distribution of patrol jeeps to eight provinces at Camp Vicente Lim in Laguna.

But when asked to provide details, the anointed candidate of President Benigno Aquino III said, “Sa amin na muna ‘yon.” (We are keeping that to ourselves, for the meantime.)

A source said the meeting took place in Poe’s house on Sunday.

Asked if Roxas formally offered Poe to be his vice president, he said: “It (has been) previously offered already. ‘Yung pagbabago lang mula noong huli naming pag-uusap ay na-endorse na tayo ng Pangulo.” (The only difference is I have been endorsed by the President.)

With Roxas and Poe was the senator’s husband, Teodoro “Neil” Llamanzares.

After the meeting that “lasted for a few hours,” Roxas said they would schedule another one in the coming days.
