Baby of 11-year-old Malaysian girl dies

SEREMBAN, Malaysia — The baby boy delivered by an 11-year-old schoolgirl in Bahau near here last Wednesday has died.

The baby, who weighed less than 1kg at birth, died at about 3am at the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah due to stomach complications.

State welfare, women and family development committee chairman Datuk Norhayati Omar said she was notified of the death by Welfare Department officers earlier Wednesday.

The girl was allegedly raped by a 31-year-old neighbor who has since gone into hiding.

Family members only discovered her pregnancy when she became sick and was taken to a private clinic.

Both mother and son had been warded at the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital in Kuala Pilah.
