Arroyo seeks furlough to attend brother’s wake, burial
Former President and incumbent Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday filed an ex-parte urgent motion to attend the wake and burial of her late brother Arturo Macapagal.
Arroyo asked the Sandiganbayan to attend the Mass at Heritage Park in Taguig City at 2 p.m. and stay until 10 p.m. Tuesday. Her brother’s body is scheduled to be cremated at 4 p.m. and then buried on Saturday.
“President Arroyo further respectfully prays that she also be allowed to attend the wake of her brother tomorrow (August 12) until Friday (August 14) from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and his burial on 15 August 2015 (Saturday),” the motion read.
The motion said Arroyo will comply with the anti-graft court’s conditions if her petition would be granted.
Arroyo’s brother passed away at 6:40 a.m. at the Makati Medical Center after battling stage 4 prostate cancer. Arroyo was previously granted by Sandiganbayan a five-hour furlough to visit Macapagal on Tuesday. With a report from Marc Jason Cayabyab/ IDL
