Arroyo seeks furlough to attend brother’s wake, burial

Former President and incumbent Pampanga representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Tuesday filed an ex-parte urgent motion to attend the wake and burial of her late brother Arturo Macapagal.

Arroyo asked the Sandiganbayan to attend the Mass at Heritage Park in Taguig City at 2 p.m. and stay until 10 p.m. Tuesday. Her brother’s body is scheduled to be cremated at 4 p.m. and then buried on Saturday.

“President Arroyo further respectfully prays that she also be allowed to attend the wake of her brother tomorrow (August 12) until Friday (August 14) from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and his burial on 15 August 2015 (Saturday),” the motion read.

The motion said Arroyo will comply with the anti-graft court’s conditions if her petition would be granted.
